Our members volunteer their time and their passion for what matters most to them.
While we have an active board, executive director, and spiritual leadership, Temple Beth Israel wouldn't be possible without a dedicated group of members who find ways to lead, contribute, and participate in their own unique ways. If you're interested in volunteering your time at Temple Beth Israel, we are sure you'll find a position where you fit right in! Contact the Temple office for more information.
The TBI Board leads the following committees and are always looking for volunteers!
Administration - Stuart Sinai, Vice President
Beth Israel Women - Sylvia Pastor, Maxine Tauber - BIW Co-Presidents
Caring Committee - Lillian Sands, Volunteer
Cemetery Committee - Stuart Sinai, Immediate Past President
Communications - Arlene Levy, Board of Trustees
This committee is responsible for formal communication from TBI to its members- our website, advertisements and materials often distributed and sent through other committees via our e-mail outreach. We are working through the transition to Shulcloud (even as this site is live, there is still work to do!) and are always interested in members who want to have a say in the voice of TBI.
Education Center Advisory Board - Irwin Pastor, Board of Trustees
Environmental Action Committee (Green Team)
Finance - Mel Langbort, Financial Secretary
Funding & Development - Jason Brandt, Vice President
This committee deals with donations, campaigns, and everything related to how we assess the needs of our community and raise money to meet them. We are looking for members who might be interested in reaching out to our members to see how we can best support them, and how they can support TBI through our fundraising campaigns.
Long Range Planning
Membership Development
This committee is responsible for planning the details of membership- rates, renewal procedures, and working with our existing and incoming members to make sure they have the support they need. We're busiest in the summer and leading up to the High Holidays, but we're always looking for volunteers who can commit the time to help us reach out to our membership and guide new members.
Membership Engagement - Karen Gary, volunteer
Men's Club - Lew Moyer, Ralph Liebstein, Men's Club Co-Presidents

Ritual Committee - Kelli Veit, Board of Trustees
This committee at Temple Beth Israel is concerned with creating an accessible, meaningful worship and fellowship experience for our congregation. We collaborate with the Rabbi to establish, maintain, and review the rituals observed on Shabbat, the High Holidays, and Festivals. We work closely with our choir director and choir to update our music to generate a welcoming environment at our services. We actively develop programs of interest to our congregants and assess how we can best serve our members' needs so that our traditions remain relevant and meaningful.
